The “MUSIC TO GO – Opera in Espresso Format” project offers an opportunity to experience classical music authentically and up close in a relaxed atmosphere, performed by accomplished artists. Whether you are an opera veteran or a complete newcomer, young or old—everyone is welcome! Admission is free, though donations are, of course, greatly appreciated. A string quartet serves as the orchestra, three opera singers perform popular opera “hits” over the course of 75 minutes, and insightful commentary offers interesting details for both beginners and seasoned opera lovers alike. Désirée Brodka
German soprano Désirée Brodka commands a wide-ranging repertoire spanning opera and oratorio to musical theatre. She is a welcome presence on German stages, particularly as an operetta diva.
Beyond that, she is a versatile talent, celebrated as both an entertainer and a singer-songwriter.
She was nominated as “Young Artist of the Year” in 2014 by the trade journal *Opernwelt*. Her voice was selected for the presentation of the new Mercedes S-Class at the 2013 IAA, where she captivated an audience of around 800,000 with an aria by Donizetti.
She was the first German opera singer to receive a Fulbright Scholarship, completing her Artist Diploma studies under Richard Miller at the Oberlin Conservatory in the USA. Prior to this, she studied opera in Düsseldorf, completed postgraduate studies in chamber music with distinction, and studied cultural management in Vienna.
Her dance training encompasses ten years of ballet, as well as forays into modern dance and Oriental dance.
Her active concert schedule includes collaborations with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Bergische Symphoniker, Romanian State Philharmonic, European Festival Orchestra, Vogtland Philharmonie, and the WDR Radio Orchestra.
She has made guest appearances at venues including the Staatstheater Stuttgart, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Eutin Festival, and the theatres of Koblenz, Dortmund, and Winterthur (Switzerland), as well as the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Musikalische Komödie Leipzig, and the Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen). Chamber music engagements have taken her to Bergen (Norway), Vermont (USA), Italy, Korea, Kuwait, and Canada. She also performs regularly on the ZDF *Traumschiff* (Dream Ship).
For the past four years, Désirée Brodka has been producing events as the artistic director of the non-profit association “MUSIC TO GO e.V.” Opera tours in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse designed to introduce uninitiated audiences to classical music—an initiative featured in multiple reports by WDR television: www.music-to-go.com.
